That could be done, but I don't think that it will add much benefit 
over average referencing. I don't immediately know how you suggest to 
weigh the different electrodes for the reference in your first 
suggesion, but as long as you apply the same weighted reference to the 
forward model it will work. The Hjorts laplacian reference probably 
will result in better localisation of superficial sources and worse 
localisation of deeper sources.
