Christian,

If you're already running analyses on a linux box you could always try
to run your analyses over a cluster.  I personally have never tried
(or had the need to) do this, but when it's done it's very useful and
can be a huge time-saver.  Just make sure you run these clustered
analyses at a time when others aren't using their machines; people get
upset when you steal their processing cycles.

If you ask a system administrator or your local linux fan about this
I'm sure they could set you up.  Someone on this list may even be able
to elaborate further.
