The abstract deadline for the fMRI Experience VIII conference is in
three days - April the 7th. Better get onto it soon.

You've probably heard all this before, but here it all is again,
because it really is going to be good! If you have any students or
colleagues who you think might want a forum to present some results
in an amazingly constructive atmosphere, tell them to go into their
office (taking a scone and a cup of tea) and not leave until they've
emailed us an abstract! On with the spiel...

The fMRI Experience offers students, early career researchers and the
more experienced an opportunity to interact and learn from prominent
national and international professionals in the field of fMRI.

The four-day program will cover:
    - The basis of fMRI.
    - Experimental design and analysis.
    - Applications in cognitive neuroscience and psychiatry.
    - Multi-modal imaging and alternatives to fMRI.

Confirmed keynotye speakers: Peter Bandettini (USA), Mick Brammer
(UK), David Donaldson (UK), John Foxe (USA), Aina Puce (USA) & Mark
Jenkinson (UK).

The meeting is shaping up to be an exciting one. To complement the
main program we have arranged two special BIG DISCUSSIONS:
1) A big discussion with the difficult topic “Has fMRI told us
anything new about the mind (so far)?”. Auni Puce (West Virginia
University) will be directing proceedings. A representative from
each team will give a short presentation after which there will be
discussion between the teams.

On the “Yes!” team are
	- Prof Richard Clarke (Flinders University),
	- Prof David Crewther (Brain Sciences Institute, Swinburne
University) and
	- Prof David Copolov (Mental Health Research Institute, Australia).
On the “No!” team are
	- Prof Max Coltheart (Macquarie University) and
	- Dr David Donaldson (University of Stirling, Scotland).

2) The second big discussion is a presentation of three major brain
imaging software packages. Speakers will present the main features
of each package as well as an analysis of the openly available FIAC
data (http://www.madic.org/index.php).
	- FSL: Dr Mark Jenkinson (FMRIB, Oxford University).
	- SPM: Dr Michael Breakspear (University of Sydney).
	- Brain Voyager: Prof David Crewther (Brain Sciences Insitute,
Swinburne University).

All this and more, at the Eighth fMRI Experience Conference, now with
new and improved abstract deadline.
