[Eeglablist] Why does GUI not update the "filename" field after I save a new dataset?

Hello all,

I'm just curious about a quirk in the dataset editing process in EEGLAB
(I'm using version 13).

When I make a change to a dataset using the GUI, such as deleting some
channels with pop_select, for example, the pop_newset window shows up
afterwards asking me what to name the dataset, whether to save it (and with
what filename), and then whether to overwrite the old one in EEGLAB's
memory. This is fine. What I usually do is fill in the new dataset name,
browse to a folder location and indicate that I want to save the new
dataset, with a name that I give it, and often I don't overwrite the old
dataset in memory.

Afterwards is the problem, because when I return to the GUI, the dataset
name and all the relevant fields will have updated, all except the
"filename" field, which is now empty (it says "none").

Why is that? Shouldn't the filename for this new dataset be exactly the
filename that I just gave it? EEGLAB does indeed successfully save the new
dataset to my hard drive with the correct name, so that part is fine. It's
just disconcerting after saving a dataset, for the GUI to tell me the new
dataset has no filename. When I then go to save the dataset (not "save
as"), I have to manually give it a name, which I usually indicate to be the
name I just gave it (clicking "yes" to overwrite the dataset on my hard
drive that already has that name, because it's the same dataset I am saving
now).

Does this make sense? Does this happen to everyone? Is there a reason why
EEGLAB does this?

Thank you for reading this and I appreciate your comments!

James
