sub-domains of psychology, psychiatry and behavioral medicine. In the end we

understandable manner, as well </FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN

practitioners to sophisticated methods and procedures that need to be integrated
</FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT

style="mso-bidi-font-style: normal"><U>all</U></I> clinical practices,

sophisticated brain imaging techniques </FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN

things that appear reconcilable with Freudian theory that have been
</FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT
face="Times New Roman">previously discounted. The psychiatrist needs to know
about practices being used by </FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN
style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">psychologists who
are demonstrating, for example, that heart rate variability biofeedback
</FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT
face="Times New Roman">may be a viable alternative for treating hypertension and
anxiety in patients who cannot safely tolerate anti-</FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN
style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">anxiety
medications or that neurofeedback may be the modality of choice for treating
</FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT
face="Times New Roman">ADD in select patients. Conversely, many psychologists
and psychotherapists are not </FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN
style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">really familiar
with the neuorochemistry of psychotropic medications, leading to an
</FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT
face="Times New Roman">oftentimes radical bias against certain drugs that have
been shown to be highly </FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN style="COLOR: black"><FONT
size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">efficacious. Cardiologists need to be made
aware of alternative evidence-based </FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN
style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">psychological
interventions that may help ameliorate refractory functional arrhythmias
</FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT
face="Times New Roman">that frustrate patients. Virtually all practitioners
need to consider issues of ecological </FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN
style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">validity and the
temporal dynamics of an intervention or longitudinal impact of a
</FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN style="COLOR: black"><FONT size=3><FONT
face="Times New Roman">treatment before marrying themselves to a psychotherapy
method. Sophisticated </FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN style="COLOR: black"><FONT
size=3><FONT face="Times New Roman">assessment and monitoring methods are
capable of revealing things that previously were </FONT></FONT></SPAN><SPAN

including qEEG and in-the-field ambulatory wireless monitoring of
