        strengthening the understanding
        of processes and mechanisms of human goal directed behavior in
        the working
        environment. A strong research program addressing biological
        and/or
        psychological determinants and effects of human behavior or
        human movement in
        the occupational context, possibly complemented with modeling
        approaches (e.g.
        animal models, computational models), would be particularly
        welcome. We are
        looking for scientists with an outstanding and internationally
        recognized track
        record of research in disciplines such as Cognitive or
        Behavioral
        Neurosciences, Human Movement Sciences, Psychology, or related
        areas.
        Successful experience in external grant funding is required.
        Candidates should
        have a concept and the capabilities to apply basic research to
        challenges of
        modern working environments and should be interested in
        interdisciplinary
        research integrating our major academic disciplines immunology,
        toxicology/cell
        sciences, and ergonomics. Experience in translational research
        is highly
        appreciated. The professorship is associated with the position
        of a scientific
        director at the institute. The successful candidate will receive

        professorship will be well funded and equipped and is associated
        with the
        position of a scientific director at our institute. The
        institute is prepared
        to allocate a significant amount of space (at least 400 m<sup>2</sup>)
        and
        personnel for the professorship. Currently, a total of 10
        positions are associated
        with the professorship, of which 3 scientist-positions and 1
        position for
        technical personnel can be staffed upon appointment.
        Additionally, the new
        professor will have access to an excellent infrastructure, which
        is shared by
        the other working groups at the institute (Ergonomics, headed by
        Prof. Edmund
        Wascher; Toxicology, headed by Prof. Jan Hengstler; Immunology,
        headed by Prof.
        Carsten Watzl): Besides different highly established EEG-Labs,
        the evolving
        „Human-Machine Interaction Lab“ provides the opportunity to
        simulate various
        working environments and to investigate participants by numerous
        measures such
        as EEG, EMG, NIRS or motion tracking. For all these measurements
        the institute
        also possesses mobile equipment. Additionally, the basics for
        virtual reality
        and driving simulators of different complexity are available.
        Other resources
        include confocal and multi-photon laser scanning microscopes,
        LC-MS,
        multi-laser FACS analyzer and sorter, fluorescence time-lapse
        video microscopy,
        calcium imaging, cell culture facilities, including biosafety
        levels S1 and S2,
        and a small animal facility for mice and rats.<o:p></o:p></span></p>
    <p class="MsoNormal"><span style="mso-ansi-language:EN-US"
        lang="EN-US">Important
        for a successful application are excellent research activities
        in the fields of
        experimental Psychology or Neuroscience, that are dealing with
        the biological
        and/or psychological basis of human behavior. While excellent
        research and an
        outstanding publication record are the most important criteria,
        the candidate
        should provide a concept how such basic research could be
        translated and
        applied to the mission of our institute (occupational research).
        Ideally, such
        a concept would highlight possible connections to other
        disciplines present at
        our institute such as ergonomics, toxicology/cell biology and/or
        immunology. Applicants
        who are mostly focused on basic research should not be
        discouraged by these
        specifications. It is our experience with previous appointments
        that with the
        help of the generous institutional support basic researchers can
        successfully
