Visuospatial Selective Attention Task Study (5-Box)

Description:

In this study, the subject performs the five-box task. The five-box task was first developed by Jeanne Townsend and Marissa Westerfield in the laboratory of Eric Courchesne at UCSD (1996). The subject's screen showed 5 empty boxes arranged horizontally above the center of the screen. A plus sign, at the center of the screen, was used as the fixation point throughout the experiment. Each block highlighted a different box, indicated by a variant color, which was the attended location for that bout. When the task began, a white disc would appear in any one of the boxes for 100 ms with a stimulus onset asynchrony (SOA) of between 250 and 900 ms. The subject was instructed to press the response button whenever the disc appeared at the attended location. Data were collected from 238 scalp, neck, face and eye locations using the Biosemi Active Two system. Data referenced to the right mastoid. A single-subject EEG data set recorded at the Swartz Center, UCSD recorded by Arnaud Delorme, Julie Onton, and Scott Makeig, has been provided.

256 The data has been split into five EEGLAB datasets (each ~100Mb), each concatenating several 1-minute blocks of data in which the subject covertly attended to one of the five possible target locations. The dataset number corresponds to which box the subject is attending to (1:leftmost to 5:rightmost). session/1/eeg_recording_1.set session/1/eeg_recording_2.set session/1/eeg_recording_3.set session/1/eeg_recording_4.set session/1/eeg_recording_5.set
