The postdoctoral candidate will work on a multidisciplinary research project funded by K.U.Leuven. The ambition of the project is to integrate 2 completely different and complementary biomedical measurement techniques, namely Electroencephalogram (EEG) recordings and functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging (fMRI), and to apply this integrated measurement technique in the study of cognitive processes and cognitive dysfunctions. The research is done in a multidisciplinary environment in collaboration with radiologists, neurologists, physicists, engineers and psychologists.
The three year project starts in September 2006 and is headed by professor Sabine Van Huffel
Tasks:
· You will coordinate the multidisciplinary EEG/fMRI research project.

· You will present your results at conferences and in international journals.
· You will assist in writing new grant proposals.
· You will coach MSc and PhD students.
Profile: We are particularly seeking postdoctoral candidates with research expertise in the signal processing of simultaneous EEG-fMRI recordings, but will also consider postdoctoral candidates with experience in the following areas: cognitive and clinical neuroscience using brain imaging techniques (EEG, MEG, fMRI,.), and signal processing and statistical methods for EEG and/or fMRI analysis. Highly developed skills in scientific writing, the ability to become acquainted with new methods within short time and good familiarity with scientific tools like MATLAB programming and statistical analysis are appreciated. The chosen candidate will be an enthusiastic person and initiator with good communication skills and a good knowledge of English.
Application: To apply, please send a CV, a statement of research objectives and a cover letter including the names and contact details of two referees before May 1, 2006 to Prof. Sabine Van Huffel (sabine.vanhuffel at esat.kuleuven.be)
