Introduction and aims of the symposium:

The field of human attention is burgeoning. Never before has there been so
much scientific work being conducted upon the subject. Interrogation of
Psychinfo reveals a recent explosion of investigations upon attention, to
the extent that in the last few years the number of articles per year that
refer to attention has exceeded 1500. The time for a symposium upon the
topic has never been riper.

This symposium aims to highlight research into the neurocognitive basis of
distraction, alongside cognitive neuroscience and neuropsychology
approaches to widespread disorders of attention such as ADHD. This
symposium aims to bring together young and high-ranking international
specialists from the basic and clinical sciences, to discuss the future and
utility of the concept of human attention.
