[Eeglablist] help regarding BCI

I am recording data from C3 and C4 with earlobes as reference electrodes.
the events are imagined and actual left/right hand movements initiated by an
arrow on the screen. there are a couple of problems which im facing:
1) the data from both c3 and c4 electrodes looks very similar. the sampling
frequency is 1000Hz and i dont understand why both channels have
approximately the same sample values
2) i have been looking for changes that reflect a hand movement in raw eeg
data , power spectral density of alpha band(8-12hz) and at fft of eeg
signals but no luck so far, can you guys please help in this regard your
help will be greatly appreciated
