[Eeglablist] datasets automatically saving as matlab.mat?

All of a sudden this matlab session, whenever I try to save a dataset, I get
this message:

"Note that your memory options for saving datasets does not correspond
to the format of the datasets on disk (ignoring memory options)
Saving dataset...

Saving to: matlab.mat

Done."

What does that mean, how did it happen, and how do I fix it?
