Hello Edward, Hoping the below helps you get past the issue you mentioned.
Try making sure you have a fresh clean/full/recent eeglab version
installation, and a recent matlab version. Double check your paths in
matlab, and also restart all your programs. Then, start start matlab and
then eeglab, and using the eeglab gui - load the data from the eeglab
tutorial data, and then try running runica on the tutorial data. Show
yourself that this basic functionality works as it should with your
If that works, then attempt reloading your data via the eeglab gui so that
eeglab. After that attempt just running runica on your loaded data using
the eeglab gui, with default settings. The runica option should not be
grayed out, as it is the primary option in eeglab. Just see if you can get
runica to start up and showing that is running, with output to the command
window, and the "interupt" gui button on screen. If you still have a
problem after the above, you may want to report a bug to the eeglab bug
Also, check out the whole tutorial and explore the tutorial data if you
have not had a chance to yet. You may also benefit from reviewing the
eeglab wiki, in particular sections on ICA.
