The Developmental Neurolinguists Lab (http://bbs.utdallas.edu/brainlab/) at University of Texas at Dallas's Callier Center for Communication Disorders, directed by Dr. Mandy Maguire, is seeking a full-time Lab Coordinator to work on a NSF funded project that investigates the impact of poverty on brain and language development. This is an exciting opportunity for recent collage graduates interested in language development, cognitive neuroscience and/or the implications of poverty on cognition.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: participant recruitment, training RAs and supervising data collection, acquisition of EEG data from children and adults, basic EEG and behavioral data analysis and overall project management.
Minimum requires are:
* Bachelor's degree in psychology, neuroscience, or related field
* At least one year of research experience
* Strong organizational and writing skills
* Experience working with children
* Some Spanish (written and spoken)
Preferred skills include:
* Fluency in Spanish
* Experience with EEG data collection, preferably using Neuroscan software
* Strong statistical skills
* Experience with Matlab and EEGLab or programming experience
The successful candidate will have outstanding organizational and communication skills (written and oral), proven reliability and attention to detail, the ability to work independently and oversee the work of others.
This is an ideal job for someone who is interested in continuing on to a PhD or MD as, if justified, there will be opportunities for authorship on conference papers and journal articles.
The position is full-time with benefits with at least a 2-year commitment. The anticipated start date is mid-August 2016. Because we study school-aged children, this job requires weekend and evening hours during the school year but the lab coordinator has flexibility in creating his or her own weekday schedule.
Interested candidates should send a CV and cover letter (which should include a statement of research interests and a list of 3 references) to Yvonne Ralph (ykr140030 at utdallas.edu<mailto:ykr140030 at utdallas.edu>). Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
