Hello Keith, notes below, best wishes

#########
One should always remove the worst periods before ica, by selecting periods
from continuous data, or bt epoching and then selecting epochs to remove .

Epoching is not necessary before ica.

After ica, one can apply the ica solution to the original continuous data,
then remove some artifactual ICs, then epoch. Then one can choose to remove
the remaining dirty epochs, if any, before progressing to analysis.

Note that even with continuous resting data it is usually necessary to
epoch the data at some stage, as epochs are usually necessary for computing
metrics.

If you havent had a chance to yet, please be sure to:
google for eeglab tutorials, test with eeglab tutorial data, and google
past eeglablist posts. Google also makoto's generalized processing pipeline
recommendations.
