[Eeglablist] Causal Filtering and Coherence

Dear EEGlablist,

I have a question regarding the use of causal filters and coherence. For a
little background I'm trying to classify EEG data into one of two
conditions. I care about the onset of this classification so I have
causally filtered my data (.2Hz-30Hz) in order to avoid smearing it back in
time.

I have identified a few areas that seem to show above chance classification
and I would now like to examine how the functional connectivity (coherence
in beta band: 15-30Hz) of these areas change between the two conditions
through time. Can I still use causal filtered data despite potential phase
distortions in this analysis or do I need to use non-causal filtered data?
Thank you!

Best,

Sri
