Dear All
For reference, there is a "Research Topic" on the Influence of the EEG Reference on Inference about Brain Function and Disorders"and till now, there are 17 papers published for various cases.

 the link is :

You do need to carefully choose the re-reference for your studies.
For more details, you are welcome to visit www.neuro.uestc.edu.cn/rest, where a new re-reference to approximate to zero potential at infinity is proposed , REST, and free-software is available, REST will be listed in a coming IFCN guideline (2018 early).
Best wishes

correlation between linked ears and vertex reference frontal alpha
asymmetry about 20 years ago and found about .2 correlation. I presented it
but never wrote it up. Someone else wrote several papers about this same
issue with similar findings soon after. Check google scholar.
