Dear colleagues,
July 24 – 28 2023 will see the eighth Model-Based Neuroscience Summer
School, hosted at the University of Amsterdam. The summer school is held
the week after the international MathPsych conference (
https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://mathpsych.org/conference/12/__;!!Mih3wA!Bmokv94HrW4XwozgXqUhb8s7jlCCHek_sOTqK25_K1fVwBlcshsl-nJlOC5elangbUXFS_hg1OGTk_m6yL3UrUghj1VDi8AS$ ), also hosted in Amsterdam!
The Summer School will provide participants with hands-on experience in
both cognitive modeling using evidence-accumulation models and cognitive
neuroscience methods. This year, the summer school includes an introduction
to evidence accumulation models, combining evidence-accumulation models
with reinforcement-learning models and joint-modelling of behavioral and
neural data. The program is sponsored by the Netherlands Organization of
Scientific Research (NWO) and includes a series of lectures on model-based
decision neuroscience from experts including Andrew Heathcote, Dora Matzke,
Brandon Turner, Michael Nunez, Steven Miletić, Birte Forstmann and other
keynote speakers to be determined!
The summer school is aimed at PhD students and early postdocs who wish to
combine cognitive modeling with experimental and theoretical neuroscience
research. Participants should be familiar with general programming concepts
and state in their statement of interest which programming languages and
software packages they typically use. Familiarity with R is particularly
recommended.
Application and registration:
The registration fee for the Summer School is € 450. Participants should
make their own housing arrangements. Space is limited, therefore we ask
participants to provide a statement of interest. We will select
participants based on the relevance of the Summer School to their research.
The application deadline is May 15, 2023.
More information about the Summer School including lecturers, preliminary
program, and application can be found at https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://modelbasedneurosci.com/__;!!Mih3wA!Bmokv94HrW4XwozgXqUhb8s7jlCCHek_sOTqK25_K1fVwBlcshsl-nJlOC5elangbUXFS_hg1OGTk_m6yL3UrUghj7w_dA5O$ .
We look forward to welcoming you to Amsterdam!
