Dear all…

Post-Doc in Analysis of EEG Signals of Attention Fluctuations - Los Angeles, CA

We are seeking an enthusiastic post-doctoral researcher to fill a newly opened position with focus on (a) EEG signals of brain state fluctuations that account for intra-individual variability in response times during sustained attention, and, (b) dynamic functional connectivity correlates that track such signals, a project funded by the NIH (see here for details <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://reporter.nih.gov/search/mxFJWgPNikO1ZK3qZGGefA/project-details/10660737__;!!Mih3wA!ET24Ou0uIio1hPg3mtgLKW2e4d68uHudb8zzBSWZHl4BfUXCRK8JLhEm9NKvL1Dxjaib01YPUOgi8ay5akM8Am1IeQ$ >).

Duties & Responsibilities

Conduct analyses of EEG signatures of attention control in task-related and continuous data, within and between subject
Independently develop data processing pipelines, implement existing pipelines and integrate multiple data streams (EEG, fMRI, behavior, peripheral signals)
Conduct statistical analyses and derive group-level inferences
Develop manuscripts and presentations for the dissemination of research

Qualifications

Ph.D. in psychology, cognitive neuroscience, biomedical/electrical engineering or a related field
Strong analytical skillset and proficiency with one or more major EEG software tools (EEGLAB, Fieltrip)
Experience with signal processing in EEG research and the extraction of one or more: oscillatory features, graph-theoretic measures, signal complexity measures, and source localization
Interest or background in fMRI (dFC) or multimodal EEG-fMRI analysis is a significant asset given the focus of the lab
Comfort with Matlab, R, Python or other programming languages, familiarity with Unix/Linux and high-performance computing environments
Excellent communication skills, initiative, problem solving, and attention to detail are imperative
The position is primarily an analysis-focused opportunity. However, it is part of a broader research program on attention control that includes concurrent EEG-fMRI studies of mechanisms of alpha oscillations <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://reporter.nih.gov/search/ZIMqZxDWXEG-yS8bdfHWKw/project-details/10528685__;!!Mih3wA!ET24Ou0uIio1hPg3mtgLKW2e4d68uHudb8zzBSWZHl4BfUXCRK8JLhEm9NKvL1Dxjaib01YPUOgi8ay5akOsDdVjmQ$ > and associated working memory deficits in ADHD <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://projectreporter.nih.gov/project_info_description.cfm?aid=9819782&icde=51820520&ddparam=&ddvalue=&ddsub=&cr=2&csb=default&cs=ASC&pball=__;!!Mih3wA!ET24Ou0uIio1hPg3mtgLKW2e4d68uHudb8zzBSWZHl4BfUXCRK8JLhEm9NKvL1Dxjaib01YPUOgi8ay5akNPW2lYqA$ > , as well as real-life mobile EEG studies <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://reporter.nih.gov/search/mxFJWgPNikO1ZK3qZGGefA/project-details/9904763__;!!Mih3wA!ET24Ou0uIio1hPg3mtgLKW2e4d68uHudb8zzBSWZHl4BfUXCRK8JLhEm9NKvL1Dxjaib01YPUOgi8ay5akOdMwjmrQ$ > to examine the intersection between real-life context and attention.
