The long-term goal of the Chu Lab is to develop precision strategies to target specific types of neurons or neural circuits for disease prevention and treatment.

Our mission is to investigate how signals are transmitted to the brain and ultimately generate responses. We specifically focus on studying the fundamental ion channels/receptors associated with these senses. To achieve our research goals, we employ a diverse range of cutting-edge structural and biophysical techniques, including single-particle cryo-EM, patch-clamp electrophysiology, and various biophysical methods.
