[Eeglablist] When to do the channel interpolation?

Dear Nadja,

I believe the latest recommendation is to do it after ASR (if you're doing ASR) to avoid rank deficiency during the underlying PCA, and before ICA, making sure you are taking into account data rank in the input (default in EEGLAB GUI).

See https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.frontiersin.org/journals/signal-processing/articles/10.3389/frsip.2023.1064138/full__;!!Mih3wA!ES0AmJX15OwJI_PSdDoXg4fRFGUpTnjazvcMHL4Apf_kSHutFHL2fmGelShMY6IDZslML1TtkJYucaVdPe7PNf6WJA$ for more details on this.

Hope this helps,

Cedric

> I believe the caveat with the second approach (interpolating before ICA) would be that it introduces rank deficiency into the data which must be accounted for when running the decomposition, but it has the significant advantage of allowing for a spatially unbiased common average reference to be calculated beforehand. The rank deficiency can be corrected by using the 'pcakeep' option in EEGLAB to match the number of components to the true data rank. Please correct me if I am wrong...
