Hi Grace,

Are you saving the dataset prior to trying Run Amica in the gui? If the
dataset is saved first, the In File field should be filled in and it
shouldn't need to write a temporary data file.

I'm struggling to get AMICA running on Windows 11. I managed to run it
successfully once, yesterday, by moving my eeg.set file off OneDrive (which
contained spaces in the file path) and onto my local storage. However, I
have been unable to replicate this success with subsequent attempts.

Currently, the following error is returned when attempting to execute AMICA
through "Run AMICA" in the EEGLAB GUI:

I receive the same error when attempting to run AMICA through standard
EEGLAB ICA menu, also.

I have been through many of the EEGLABlist messages pertaining to AMICA
errors, implemented many of the suggestions, with only very modest success.

System and software specifications:
Windows 11 (64 bit), AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
MATLAB R2024b, EEGLAB v2026.1.0, AMICA v1.7
MPICH2 v1.4 installed, copies of fmpich2.dll and libiomp5md.dll in both
/eeglab/plugins/amica1.7 and /Windows/System32 (instructions on where these
binary files should be seemed to vary).

Since installing MPICH2 and copying binary files to /amica1.7 and /System32,
I have been able to successfully run AMICA in PowerShell by executing
.\amica15mkl.exe amicadefs.param. However, I still cannot run AMICA in
EEGLAB (on Windows).

Based on some comments on the mailing list about how AMICA doesn't like to
run on Windows, I installed MATLAB/EEGLAB on an old laptop running Linux
Mint and managed to run AMICA first time without any issues. It also runs
perfectly with subsequent attempts. However, the laptop's hardware leaves
much to be desired (Intel Core i5-4200U, 8GB RAM, with the AMICA
decomposition taking 7min 48s compared to 3min 40s on my Win 11 desktop).

The thing that baffles me about this is the fact that AMICA did run
perfectly on Windows once, before installing MPICH2.

Any advice on how to get AMICA to consistently run on Windows would be
immensely appreciated.

Failing that, I might have to install Ubuntu on a partition or possibly run
it off external media.
