Mismatch negativity

Decomposition of traditional ERP waveforms will provide a bridge between channel ERP research and independent component analysis.

In this dataset, provided by Peter Ullsperger, I decompose raw time course data to identify independent ICA activation fluctuations in single trials that contribute to the traditional mismatch negativity average waveform. Importantly, this analysis fully exploits the excellent time resolution that EEG recordings provide while not relying on trial-averages to reveal dominant modes of EEG activity. The methods developed here should be widely applicable to other traditional ERP paradigms.
