EEG biofeedback

Self-regulation of EEG dynamics has long been claimed to be an effective therapeutic for disorders as varied as epilepsy, depression, chronic pain, ADHD and Parkinson's disease, but convincing scientific research evidence supporting these claims has been lacking (with notable exceptions).

My work so far as linked particular subjective experiences with successful up- or down-regulation of alpha power in the right premotor area. Furthermore, EEG power in brain regions NOT converted to visual feedback were initially often comodulated with the control signal, however, this pattern tended to change with successive sessions as more focused control was gained over the brain region of interest. Below is an example of alpha power modulation while the subject was attempting to increase or decrease alpha power in a right pre-motor independent component.
