Postdoctoral position in Zurich University Hospital

A postdoctoral position is available immediately for EEG analysis in the group of Johannes Sarnthein and Daniel Jeanmonod (Brain 2006 129, 55-64; NeuroImage 2006 in press; Brain 1996 119, 363-375). The Functional Neurosurgery unit offers neurosurgical therapy to patients with severe forms of chronic neurogenic pain and Parkinson's disease. The goals of this project are (1) to describe the differences between patient EEG and healthy control EEG preoperatively, and (2) to follow the evolution of EEG parameters after the surgical intervention. The work may also be possible at the doctoral level.

The applicant will join an active multidisciplinary group embedded in the Zurich Neuroscience Center (www.neuroscience.unizh.ch). The competitive salary follows the guidelines of the Schweizer Nationalfonds (SNF), which provides the funding for 2 years.

The ideal candidate has a background in psychology or medicine and/or in a quantitative field such as math, physics, engineering or computer science. Some experience in programming is a must, preferrably in Matlab. Good working knowledge of German is a plus for patient contact. Please send a CV and brief letter of interest with names and email addresses of two people who can write letters of recommendation. Please indicate why you are interested in particular in our laboratory and in our line of research. All applications that follow these guidelines will be given serious consideration.
