Dear colleague,

I would like to draw your attention to an upcoming special issue on
“*Application
of Brain Computer Interfaces in CAD/E Systems*” in the *Journal of Computer
Aided Design* published by ELSEVIER. The Call for Papers can be found at

* *
http://www.journals.elsevier.com/computer-aided-design/call-for-papers/application-of-brain-computer-interfaces-in-cade-systems/

This special issue is an attempt to highlight research trends and
*potential applications
of brain-computer interfaces in CAD/E systems. *Emphasis will be on novel
implementation of BCI in CAD/E tools, as well as on studies on the basis of
design cognition using BCI. Researchers and experts from academia and
industry are invited to share their original work by submitting survey,
research, and application papers for this Special Issue. The objective is
to distribute recent insights and findings, to make the latest results of
development known for the CAD/E community, and to stimulate further
research in the multi-disciplinary research domain.

*Topics of interest include but not limited to:*

· The neurological basis of design cognition and creative design
work

· Principles and methodologies supporting the application of
brain-computer interfaces in CAD/E systems

· Theories, principles, methodologies and approaches for using BCI
as a design tool

· Opportunities of connecting brain computer interfaces to CAD/E
systems

· Novel CAD/E applications based on active (visual or motor
imagery) or reactive BCI methods such as those based on event-related
potentials

· Novel algorithms and methods for passive BCI systems such as the
detection of workload or the emotional state of a user or the cognitive
states involved in design collaboration

· Shape, structure, and product modeling through brain-computer
interfaces

· Supporting collaborative design and engineering work based on
brain-computer interfaces

· Effective integration of BCI communication with other modalities
in design tools and systems

· Brain-computer interfaces for impaired designers and CAD/E
systems users

*Deadlines are as follows:*
