Dear Matthew,

yes, you may filter the data aggressively and not remove baseline. However, be careful about what you want to do with your data. If you intend to assess the latency of specify EEG activities, they could be smeared by filtering. Then, you would have to use causal filtering. For more info, see this recent commentary by G.
