In short, no. I've heard of that kind of skepticism in this list a few
times and I also read the related paper, but my conclusion is that the
criticism is invalid.

For ICA it does not matter. If you want to avoid all-red/blue scalp topos
due to DC, I recommend you run average reference before ICA. See my memo
