The EP Toolkit can remap from 256 to 128 using spatial interpolation (https://sourceforge.net/projects/erppcatoolkit)

There are a few methodological articles out there that look at subsets of 256 and there relations to 10-5 and other location systems. Yes in my experience 128 to 32, and 64 to 32 is easier to do, and the 256 to 128 is more difficult.

Going from 256 to 128 is problematic spatially. If possible I suggest spatially interpolating the 256 channel data to the exact 128 channel locations.
