Neuroscience (EJN).
This is a great opportunity to bring together the latest research in this

We have recently announced a Call-for-Papers for a special issue of *The
European Journal of Neuroscience

entitled: Time to move: Brain dynamics underlying natural action and
cognition.

The issue will be edited by: Pierfilippo De Sanctis (Albert Einstein
College of Medicine, USA), Johanna Wagner (University of California, San
Diego, USA), Klaus Gramann (Technische Universität, Berlin, Germany),
Daniel Ferris (University of Florida, USA), and Martin Seeber (University
of Geneva, CH). The deadline for manuscript submissions is set for
February 29, 2020 with an estimated date of publication of Spring 2021,
although we will process and publish papers online on an ongoing basis.
Recent advances in amplifier technology allow recordings of brain activity
in freely moving participants. Using mobile electroencephalography (EEG)
and Mobile Brain/Body Imaging (MoBI), the neural dynamics accompanying
cognition can be recorded in ecologically valid protocols. While mobile EEG
often uses minimally intrusive low-density montages to investigate
sensor-based parameters in the time and frequency domains, MoBI
synchronizes recordings of human brain activity, eye and body tracking as
well as autonomic markers, while participants act and interact in a
three-dimensional environment. While still in an early stage, mobile EEG
and MoBI has clearly captured the imagination of the larger neuroscience
community by facilitating the study of action and cognition in healthy,
aged and neurological populations. Beyond that, mobile EEG designs are
aimed at the fields of sports science and art, and elusive human drives
such as innovation and creativity.
This special issue seeks to present a series of experimental papers,
targeted reviews and opinion articles that will lay out the latest findings
in these areas. The call for a special issue recognizes the beginning of a
new frontier in our understanding of natural cognition in action and the
important translational and clinical implications that come with it. We
encourage you to submit your work and to be part of the EJN special issue
entitled ‘Time to move: brain dynamics underlying natural action and
cognition.’
We would be very pleased if you would consider contributing a paper to this
issue. All submissions will undergo rigorous, fast, fair and open peer
review. Please do let us know if you intend to submit a paper as we would
like to keep track of potential contributions.
