[Eeglablist] repairing corrupt EGI mff records

Not directly related to Fieldtrip or Eeglab but perhaps someone here knows.

We have some old EGI mff records that are corrupt: they appear to contain
data (e.g. signal1.bin is many GB) but several other files inside the mff
folder/package are missing: epochs.xml appears to be a/the critical one.

Looking at intact records, epochs.xml contains the fields
beginTime/endTime/firstBlock/lastBlock, so I'm hoping this info can be
recovered somehow (e.g., from the bin files or otherwise).

Does anybody know of ways/tools to repair these records?
