Happy to talk to anyone who is considering applying. Sheffield is a
fantastic place to live (lots green space) and work (lovely colleagues)! We
also have great EEG facilities and a 3T MRI scanner (at the Academic
Radiology Department). For any Developmental researchers - we also have
excellent facilities for working with children and young people including a
large participant database.

The Department of Psychology at the University of Sheffield seeks to
appoint two new lecturers on open-ended Teaching and Research contracts.
The successful applicants will: conduct research in accordance with the
Department's strategy of delivering internationally excellent research that
is open, rigorous, cutting-edge and collaborative; undertake high-quality
teaching and supervision of students on our BPS-accredited undergraduate
degree, and on one of our specialist post-graduate (MSc) programmes;
supervise PhD students; and make a collegial contribution to the academic
life of the department by taking part in academic governance and student
support.

You will join our team of internationally recognised researchers

cognitive and computational neuroscience, developmental and cognitive
psychology, social and health psychology, mental health and wellbeing,
systems neuroscience, and data science. We are particularly keen to hear
from applicants who have a proven track-record in their field by way of
high-quality publications and grant-capture, and who are looking to develop
and lead their own research program within a supportive and stimulating
environment, and whose work fits with at least one of our existing areas of
expertise. There are extensive opportunities to collaborate with academics
in other departments - for instance via the university’s Flagship Research
Institutes <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/research/flagship-institutes__;!!Mih3wA!WIyZtZUaK0WMvddbFjV5bs1YIqs64TcrVO0lCIkSpLfAzpANW27w5MP-ERP4jRQq50ERIw$ >,
within which our department is already very active.

Our department is one of the largest Psychology departments in the UK, and
has been consistently ranked as one of the outstanding research departments
in all seven UK RAE/REF assessments to date. We've also been ranked as one
of the best places in the world to study psychology (Times Higher Education
World Subject Rankings 2021). We have over 150 students registered for
higher degrees by research (PhD/DClinPsy) and over 200 postgraduate taught
students.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from
across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to
greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater
impact through research, teaching and student experience. We welcome
applications from everyone irrespective of gender and ethnic group but, as
members of ethnic minority groups are currently under-represented at this
level of post, we would encourage applications from members of these
groups. Appointment will be based on merit alone.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK.
The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a
generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to
a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and
professional development.
