Interactive Virtual Workshop Series on Methods and Best Practices in Developmental EEG. February 20 - March 3, 2023
This workshop is brought to you by the Fetal, Infant, & Toddler Neuroimaging Group (FIT’NG)<https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://fitng.org/__;!!Mih3wA!D-aGvPzxYL0MjzGihPLD52nF5CHtI1A3IHqb_VUr2eOZIWt6eU5Wp3qERokrqMJ46cJglVBCV5aMxZL7GsCfUQzI$ > and is organized by Drs. Lindsay Bowman and Sam Wass on behalf of the Vision and Visibility Committee.
FIT’NG is hosting a 10-day virtual workshop series covering basic and advanced methods in developmental EEG/ERP. The online workshop will include one 3-hr session per day, running from 8 am - 11 am PST/ 11 am - 2 pm EST/ 4 pm - 7 pm GMT/ 5 pm - 8 pm CET.

This workshop provides a much-needed space for developmental EEG/ERP researchers (including advanced users/PIs, novice users, and total beginners) to come together to discuss issues in methodological and analytic techniques uniquely relevant to developmental data (especially from infants, toddlers, and preschool children). The workshop will also showcase cutting edge approaches to using EEG/ERP data to address open questions in developmental research.

In all sessions we aim to (1) introduce the basic principles of the featured methodological approach, (2) showcase the methodological approach via examples of current research in the invited speaker’s lab or relevant data, (3) identify current best practices in the application of the featured approach, and (4) brainstorm approaches to determining best practices where they are currently lacking.

Attendees can register on a per-session basis or can sign up for all 10 sessions. Registration is free for FIT’NG members. The cost for non-members is $10 per session/$50 for the entire 10-day workshop. Attendees from Low and Middle Income Countries can receive free registration.

Each session will be interactive and includes:

  * 1.5 hr lecture (including Q&A) from invited expert in a specific topic in EEG/ERP research (see following list of speakers)
  * 45 min interactive breakout sessions lead by each speaker and researchers from their lab
  * 45 min structured group discussion of breakout topics, such as brainstorming of best practices, and future research directions (including possible ‘multiverse’/comparative analyses papers)

Topics covered will include:

  * basics of set up and application for EEG recording (with tips and tricks for recording from infants, toddlers, and preschoolers)
  *   event-related potentials
  *   time-frequency analyses including TF-PCA
  *   source localization
  *   intra-brain connectivity
  *   speech-brain entrainment
  *   brain-brain entrainment
  * novel approaches to analytic issues such as quantifying data quality, using linear mixed effects for trial-level analysis

Confirmed speakers:
Lindsay Bowman (UC Davis), Michelle de Haan (UCL), Steve Luck (UC Davis), George Buzzell (FIU), Stefania Conte (USC), Wanze Xie (PKU), John Richards (USC), Russell Toll (UTSW), Emily Jones (Birkbeck), Rianne Haartsen (Birkbeck), Judit Gervain (Padua/CNRS), Sam Wass (UEL).

Registration details and associated links will be sent out in the New Year.
