Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in Cognitive Neuroscience at Wesleyan University

Wesleyan University’s Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of neuroscience beginning July 1, 2025. We seek a broadly trained cognitive neuroscientist with research focused on any area in cognitive neuroscience, including but not limited to motor control, sensory processing, object recognition, language, attention and cognitive control, higher-level cognition, learning, development, social cognition, and emotion. The ideal candidate will have a high-quality research program focused on human populations and/or computational methods. They will mentor undergraduate research and will be prepared to teach an introductory course in Neuroscience, two specialized courses in an area of expertise, and one course in statistics, or research methods.



Wesleyan faculty have a strong commitment to scholarship, undergraduate teaching, and social engagement. The Department currently has 17 full-time faculty members in the areas of cognition, neuroscience, psychopathology, development, culture, and social psychology. Department members also contribute to interdisciplinary programs in Neuroscience and Behavior, Education Studies, Science and Society, and Feminist, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, and participate in a postdoctoral program. The appointment will begin July 1, 2025.



A Ph.D. in neuroscience or related field in hand by the time of appointment to be hired as an Assistant Professor; a successful candidate may be hired as an instructor if the candidate does not have a Ph.D. in hand at the time of appointment but will complete the Ph.D. in neuroscience or related field within one year of hire. The teaching load is 2/2, in person on Wesleyan’s campus. Additional duties include advising and mentoring students, carrying on a program of research, and participating in faculty governance at the departmental and university level.
