BOOTCAMP ON MOBILE BRAIN-COMPUTER INTERFACE (MOBCI): CHALLENGES, OPPORTUNITIES,
AND PARADIGMS.

ORGANIZERS: POTSDAM EMBODIED COGNITION GROUP (PECOG) – UNIVERSITY OF POTSDAM [1]
+ ANT NEURO [2] BERLIN

12-13 MAY 2026 – UNIVERSITY OF POTSDAM

Brain-Computer Interfaces (BCIs) offer a powerful method of communication with
machines using brain signals (mainly EEG). However, most interfaces operate in a
seated setup, restricting real-world applications. Mobile Brain Imaging (MoBI)
solutions present an opportunity to overcome this by creating Mobile BCIs
(MoBCI). This bootcamp is designed for early-career researchers, Master's, and
PhD students focused on the challenges and applications of capturing and
utilizing brain activity in real-world, mobile environments. It is structured to
bridge theory and practice, allowing participants to discuss and explore the
technical and methodological challenges of creating this new generation of BCI.
In a series of expert-led symposiums, you will explore the complete BCI
pipeline, including BCI interaction design, advanced EEG signal processing and
Machine Learning, the challenges of Mobile EEG, and large-scale collaborative
efforts like the EEGManyPipelines initiative. These academic sessions build a
full day of hands-on application. Using ANT Neuro hardware, you will apply these
concepts directly in a Mobile BCI setup, progressing from basic implementation
to the complexities of MoBCI design. This bootcamp offers a unique opportunity
to gain a comprehensive understanding of the mobile BCI landscape, from
theoretical paradigms to practical implementation. Connect with leading experts,
develop hands-on skills, and explore the future of brain-computer interaction.

TARGET: PhD students, early-career researchers interested in EEG, Neuroscience,
and Brain Computer Interface.

DURATION: 2 days, 9:00-17:00 (1h lunch break + 15min coffee breaks in between)
