*RESEARCH SUPPORT ASSISTANT/EEG TECHNICIAN, NEW YORK STATE PSYCHIATRIC
INSTITUTE, NEW YORK, USA*
*POSITION*: The Psychophysiology Laboratory in the Division of Cognitive
Neuroscience at New York State Psychiatric Institute and the Department
of Psychiatry of Columbia University is seeking a full-time Research
Support Assistant/EEG Technician. The laboratory is studying cognitive
and neurophysiologic function in schizophrenia and depressive disorders
using electrophysiologic (EEG & ERP) and neurocognitive measures. The
ideal candidate would have research experience in electrophysiology (EEG
recording and data processing) and experience or coursework in computer
programming (e.g., Matlab, SPSS, Batch, NeuroScan, EEGlab and/or
ERPlab). This is a excellent position for someone who would like to
obtain research experience in the areas of psychophysiology and
psychopathology before going to graduate school.
*DUTIES*: Duties include: recording and analysis of electrophysiologic
(EEG & ERP) data, administering and scoring of cognitive tests, and
computer processing of data
*EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE*: BA preferred with a major in Psychology,
Biology, Biomedical Engineering or related fields. Graduate students are
also encouraged to apply. Prior experience in electrophysiologic
research is preferred but not required for the position. Preference will
be given to applicants who have experience administering
electrophysiologic and cognitive tests and doing computer processing of
these data. Familiarity with Matlab, SPSS or other programming languages
is an asset. Preference will also be given to students interested in
pursuing a career in psychology doing research in psychopathology and/or
cognitive neuroscience.
*RECOMMENDED SALARY*: Starting at $36,524 depending on qualifications
and experience.
*LOCATION*: New York State Psychiatric Institute is located at 1051
Riverside Drive, New York, NY 10032, on the upper west side of
Manhattan, close to the George Washington Bridge.
