A 1 year post-doctoral position is available at LISV, a french lab at 30
min from Paris, France. The LISV team « Assistance et Handicap » has
developed a recognized expertise in assistance robotics for
rehabilitation and offers a 12 months post-doctoral fellowship for a
young researcher, as an extension of the ESTA project (funded by the
French research agency ANR).

The project aims at designing a multi-modal control interface for a
robotic orthosis for the rehabilitation of the upper limb. The team
already has a functional robotic platform which have been thoroughly
tested with several control interfaces. The goal is to extend the
control modalities with an EEG-based brain-computer interface, on top of
other communication methods.

The theoretical part concerns on the one hand the selection of relevant
and robust features for the control and on the other hand a multi-modal
fusion of the different chosen features. A combined approach should be
developed based on the identification of the user's control capacity
through an analysis of the different signal modality (arm movement, EEG, …).

Applicants must have obtained their PhD after September 2006 in one of
the related field of the study : signal processing, brain-computer
interfaces or machine learning (in particular with SVM, HMM or fuzzy
approaches such as Fuzzy C-means).

The fellowship will be funded by the French government, month salary is
circa 2100 euros and it can start in September 2011 or after.
