[Eeglablist] Should the reference channel be included when running ICA?

Hi everyone,

I have some data that were recorded using the left mastoid as the online
reference and then were re-referenced offline to the average of both
mastoids, saving a new ref channel. Thus, the data include both A1 (right
mastoid) and a "REF" channel (average of both mastoids).

I would like to run ICA on these data (not to analyze the components per se,
but just to remove ocular artifact). Should I remove the REF channel from
the data, or use the 'pca' option in runica() to reduce the dimensions of
the data (since the REF channel is not independent from the A1 channel), or
just use the default options?

Best,
Steve Politzer-Ahles
