[Eeglablist] Dipfit

Dear eeglab list,

I have just started using dipfit to fit dipoles.
I have two questions:

For one subject, I have ICA components whose ERPs looked like they contain
task-relevant peaks and whose frequency spectra didn't look like muscle
noise, though the topography looks diffuse (one big blob over most of the
brain). These components were fitted outside the brain; using BESA, both
were outside the brain and using BEM, one was outside the brain.
I've tried fitting two dipoles instead of one, but they are still outside
the brain. Is there anything I could be doing wrong?

My second question is how to know whether to fit one or two dipoles?

Thanks in advance for any help
Jacquie
