Hi James!

Here are two papers that we recently published:

http://journal.frontiersin.org/Journal/10.3389/fninf.2014.00022/full
http://dx.doi.org/10.1088/1741-2560/10/4/046006

The first is about our Python source connectivity toolbox (SCoT), and the second one about single-trial estimation of motor imagery data.

A good review of the various connectivity measures that can be derived from a VAR model is the following book chapter:

http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0079612306590090

All three papers contain several references that might be relevant for your work.

Certainly Pascual-Marqui's trailblazing work with eLORETA dominates the landscape, but I'm wondering if anyone can point to additional papers, outside the handful published by the SCCN, that could provide some support for the methods we're using with SIFT.
