[Eeglablist] How to write to edf with events?

I'm trying to export the EEG struct to an edf file. However, it seems that
in writeeeg, any events get deleted if HDR.TYP is different from GDF? And
no matter what, event labels seem to be exchanged for numbers?
Does this mean that there is no way to export the EEG struct to edf while
retaining the events? Has anyone found a way to solve this?
