Dear list members,

On behalf of Maro, let me forward this post to the list.

Dear EEGLAB users/specialists,

One post-doctoral and a few Research Assistant positions are available in
the Center for Brain, Mind & KANSEI Sciences Research (‘BMK Center’) at
Hiroshima University (in Hiroshima) and the BMK Digital Cognitive
Neuroscience Lab (in Tokyo).

These positions will be supported by our recent grants awarded to the PIs
(Dr Maro Machizawa or Dr Takafumi Sasaoka & Prof Shigeto Yamawaki) from
national and private collaboratory funds. Successful candidates for these
positions should have a background and understanding of using EEGs (either
wearable EEGs or conventional EEGs) in affective, cognitive neuroscience.
Proficiency in IoT, database, XR, or fMRI analyses using SPM skills will be
a plus. Interests in one of the following would be necessary: human
interoception, affective disorder (depression or KANSEI) or developmental
disorders (ADHD/ASD), or working memory.

There are significant overlap and interactions across our grants and
collaboration with industries on these grants. Hiroshima University is a
top 10 university in Japan. The BMK center is very well equipped with 3T
MRI that is dedicated for research-use, concurrent EEG and (nearly all)
physiological monitoring system, well maintained EEG systems (wearable EEGs
to research-grade EEGs, many of them), and a few behavioral chambers, etc.
The DCN lab in Tokyo is more focused on applied cognitive neuroscientific
research and developments.

Candidates must have strong capabilities in one or more of the following
disciplines – EEG, signal processing, cognitive, affective, or
computational neuroscience. New members of the lab will benefit from the
expertise of several other collaborators, post-docs, and graduate students
and a proven track record of expertise in academia-industry
collaborations. RAs in Hiroshima must be able to speak Japanese fluently.

Applications should consist of a cover letter describing research interests
(and how those are a good fit for the position) a CV, including contact
information of potential referees. Applications will be evaluated till the
positions are filled, which we expect to happen by the end of this spring.

Please send completed applications to recruit at bmk.hiroshima-u.ac.jp
