The GENES:IS Lab at the University of Houston, directed by Dr. Elena
Grigorenko, is seeking a part-time paid research technician for a large
study sponsored by the Office of Naval Research. The primary responsibility
will be participant testing, which involves administering behavioral
questionnaires and virtual-reality tasks while recording EEG, and
registering heart rate and other physiological data. The focus of the study
is individual differences in human performance before and after intense
exercise and sleep deprivation, and the study also has genetic and hormonal
components. We are also looking at how various life experiences during
development, such as musical training or being bilingual, influence
performance. The hours will primarily be 5-hour shifts per day, with the
possibility of some 8-hour shifts, mostly in afternoons and evenings, up to
6 days per week (it is likely to vary from week to week). Some weekend
hours will be required. The position will begin immediately, and the
expected duration is one year, with the possibility of a 2-year extension.
