Dear list,
I am excited to announce an internship opportunity. Here is the description below.
Project Description:
This is a unique opportunity for a student interested in pursuing a career in neuroscience. Join a groundbreaking project investigating subconscious predictive processes in unpredictable settings using pioneering technology. We will be collecting data shortly using the Galea headset (by OpenBCI Inc.) merging state-of-art Varjo Aero Virtual Reality (VR) technology and simultaneous 8-channel EEG, PPG, EDA, EMG, and eye tracking. This project aims to capture correlates of subconscious anticipation in a simple passive driving simulation and predicts outcomes using advanced machine learning and statistical analyses.
Role and Responsibilities:
- Run and monitor (check for errors, improve code when necessary, etc) pre-developed data analysis pipelines using MATLAB and EEGLAB (command line).
- Inspect and verify the quality of processed data files.
- Work remotely with potential opportunities to visit the lab in Novato, California, for local candidates interested, to support and learn about data collection.
- Gain hands-on experience in signal processing and biostatistics.
- Possibility to co-author manuscript for peer-review publication
Basic requirement:
- Experience with MATLAB and EEGLAB (command line).
- Current student or recent graduate in Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Psychology, or a related field.
- Good communication skills for remote collaboration.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols.
Desired but not required:
- Basic understanding of EEG, PPG, and EDA data and basic physiology.
- Interest in predictive processes, VR technology, and multimodal neuroscience research.
- Basic knowledge of machine learning principles.
- Local to the San Francisco Bay Area.
Start Date: August (flexible)
Location: Remote (data analysis); Novato, California (data collection support)
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to innovative research at the intersection of neuroscience and technology.
Warm regards,
Cedric Cannard, PhD
