Technische Universität Berlin - Faculty V - Mechanical Engineering and Transport Systems - Department of Psychology and Ergonomics offers an open position of a

Junior professor – salary grade W1 with tenure track option to W2 for the subject area “Ergonomics”.

Reference Number: V-32/14 (to be filled as soon as possible for a period of 3 years; after successful evaluation an extension of 3 more years is possible)
With this professorship, Technische Universität Berlin wants to address and support young scientists. Therefore, the position will be initially filled as W1 Junior Professorship with a fixed-term contract. After successful evaluation of the W1 Junior Professorship, a tenure-track process will be initiated. If successful, the position will be converted to an unlimited W2 position.

Responsibilities: Research and teaching of fundamentals, methods and applications of Ergonomics and Industrial Engineering; Teaching in Bachelors’ and Masters’ engineering programmes as well as the interdisciplinary Masters’ programme Human Factors and other TUB study programmes; Research in the field of Ergonomics with focus on the development and application of modelling and simulation tools, preferably in the health domain and/or demographic change

Requirements: Candidates must qualify for appointment according to the requirements of § 102a BerlHG (Berlin Higher Education Act), including completed academic education in engineering or natural sciences, qualified achievements in research (outstanding PhD), educational and didactic competences and several years of practical experience and interdisciplinary, preferably international cooperation in the field of ergonomics. Applicants must have outstanding research achievements and teaching experience in the field of Ergonomics and Industrial Engineering and should be particularly recognised in the area of development and application of ergonomic modelling and simulation tools. Experience in the health domain and/or demographic change is an advantage. The willingness to offer courses in both German and English is required. If the candidate was employed as a research assistant before or after the completion of a PhD, the total period of PhD and employment combined must not have exceeded six years.
