MRI Physicist / MRI Specialist
Waisman Brain Imaging Laboratory
Director :  Richard J. Davidson

Principal Duties :

The Waisman Laboratory for Brain Imaging and Behavior is a state-of-the-art
multi-disciplinary facility dedicated to affective and cognitive
neuroscience research with brain imaging. The laboratory includes a 3.0T MRI
scanner (GE X750) devoted exclusively to neuroscience research. The lab
currently is home to several faculty with expertise in neuroscience and
psychology, physics, and statistics. In addition, the lab includes trained
personnel to facilitate imaging research studies.


The person in this position will be responsible for researching, developing,
and evaluating MRI techniques for core and affiliated faculty.  This will
include pulse sequence programming, designing and optimizing imaging
protocols, testing imaging protocols on the scanner, and writing analysis
software for specific projects. He/she will assist with designing and
analyzing neuroimaging experiments; regularly assess scanner performance
(e.g., quality assurance); troubleshoot, identify, and solve research
problems involving the MRI scanner; present professional papers on their
research; maintain an online listserv to advise those with questions about
analysis, and write articles for scientific journals.  The person will also
be part of the MRI lab advisory team and will assist with training users,
staff, and students on the use of computer tools and image analysis
techniques. In addition, this position will provide excellent opportunities
to pursue the applicant’s own research interests by developing independent
and collaborative research project, publications and grant proposals.
Compensation will be competitive and commensurate with experience.
